In Europe chamomile as been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, known for its antiseptic and soothing efficacy. The ancient Egyptians dedicated this beautiful and magical plant to the sun god Ra, and in the year 400 BC the medicinally knowledgeable Hippokrates prescribed chamomile against fever. In Tudor England chamomile was used as an aromatic and fortifying herb mixed into the floor bedding – a kind of early aromatherapy.
