Parsley comes from the Mediterranean area and the Romans cultivated the plant for medicinal use. Parsley arrived in Denmark during the late Middle Ages and around 1800 the vitamin and mineral rich plant had become commonplace in people’s vegetable gardens. Because of the seeds’ prolonged sprouting time it was said that the plant went three times to hell before it came up through the ground. Parsley has long been known as a remedy against lice and for its soothing effect on swelling and itching.
